Francis Cabot Lowell (1855-1911) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit and the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Lowell joined the court in 1905 after an appointment from Theodore Roosevelt. He joined the District of Massachusetts in 1898 after an appointment from William McKinley. At the time of appointment, he served as a Massachusetts state representative. He served until his death on March 6, 1911.[1]

Judicial nominations and appointments

First Circuit

Lowell was nominated by President Theodore Roosevelt on February 15, 1905. He was confirmed by the Senate on February 23, 1905, and received commission that same day. He served until his death on March 6, 1911. Lowell was succeeded to this position by William Schofield.[1]

District of Massachusetts

Lowell was nominated by President William McKinley on January 5, 1898. He was confirmed by the Senate on January 10, 1898, and received commission that same day. He served on this court until April 15, 1905. Lowell was succeeded in this position by Frederic Dodge.[1]
