Albert Bryan, Jr.
Albert Vickers Bryan Jr. was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. He joined the court in 1971 after a nomination from President Richard Nixon. Bryan died on August 27, 2019.[1]
Early life and education
A native of Alexandria, Virginia, Bryan graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law with his LL.B. in 1950.[1]
Military service
Bryan served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve from 1944 to 1946.[1]

Judicial nominations and appointments
Eastern District of Virginia
Bryan was nominated by President Richard Nixon on July 19, 1971, to a new seat created by 84 Stat. 294. He was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on July 29, 1971, and he received his commission the same day. He served as chief judge of the court from 1985 to 1991. Bryan elected to take senior status beginning on December 1, 1991. His service officially ended on August 27, 2019, when he died.[1] Bryan was succeeded in this position by Leonie Brinkema.
