- "I thought since Luthor Corp now owns the D.E.O., National City could use its own collective. A headquarters to keep this city safe, to work outside of corporate and government oversight, whose interests might not always side with justice. [...] A place for my Superfriends to work, whenever they should need it."
- —J'onn J'onzz[src]
The Tower is the headquarters of the Superfriends.
History[]
Taking inspiration from the Hall of Justice established as a headquarters by Barry Allen, J'onn J'onzz repurposed a section of his building to act as a secret headquarters outside of governmental oversight, for the Superfriends.[1] J'onn also installed a function that would turn the Tower into a ship when needed.[2] When they dropped by his office, J'onn showed them the base and explained that it would become a base of operations for the Superfriends. The Tower also has a panel on a wall to "speed-dial" active heroes Supergirl, Batwoman, The Flash, Martian Manhunter, Dreamer, and Brainiac-5.[1] J'onn later added a button for Sentinel as well.[3]
Querl Dox came here and talked Supergirl into using Myriad to find the kidnapped users of Obsidian Platinum.
Later, M'gann M'orzz arrived at the Tower to help with the capture of an escaped sun-eater. [4]
The Tower was used by Dreamer as a safe place to sleep as she searched for clues on how to find Leviathan. Meanwhile, M'gann and J'onn conversed about their pasts and how they keep intersecting, causing them to have a moment, which was interrupted by Nia's snores.[5]
J'onn encouraged Alex Danvers as she mourned the disappearance of Supergirl into the Phantom Zone by giving her the code name "Sentinel" and placing her symbol on the speed-dial panel.[3]
Silas White was brought to the Tower to create a portal to free Kara from the Phantom Zone, but the attempt was unsuccessful; instead, phantoms entered the Tower, fought the Superfriends, and were expelled.[6]
Miss Martian was brought here to keep her from becoming a phantom after she was infected. Prime Phantom attacked the Superfriends but was repelled.[7]
The Superfriends used the Tower as a ship to travel the Phantom Zone and free Kara, in which they succeeded. On the way back to Earth, Nyxlygsptlnz hitched a ride on the Tower, unbeknownst to the passengers onboard.[2]
Features[]
The Tower is split into three main sections that can be accessed via the secret elevator that brings the Superfriends up from J'onn's office. The Tower likely contains other sections that are needed for a star ship to operate, but those were never shown. The three sections that were shown are the operations room/the bridge, a general purpose room, and the brig.
Known rooms of the Tower[]
- Operations/Bridge: In its HQ form, the operations room is where the Superfriends conduct most of their work, such as monitoring the city via satellites and NCPD radio transmitions, and hold team meetings. It has an open balcony for flying heroes to land, a lounge area, multiple work stations, a main observation station, a central table for meets and general use, and multiple windows to let in ample light. With a click of a button under the main observation station, the Tower transforms into its ship form as first seen in the episode "Fear Knot". In its ship form, the bridge is where they pilot the ship from, the balcony becomes an airlock, the work stations become consoles with seatbelts, the main observation station becomes navigation, the central table disappears, and the windows gain an orange membrane-like covering.
- General purpose room: The general purpose room has several sub-sections with a hexagonal area in the center can act as a recreational or training area, a medical bay, an armory, lab, mess hall, and a kitchen/galley. The general purpose room also contains arcade machines.
- Brig: Like the D.E.O. before it, the Tower has cells to contain the Superfriends' prisoners. These six cells are only meant for short term containment, being small and lacking any sort of basic amenities.
Suspected rooms of the Tower[]
- Engine room: The ship has thrusters. It goes vroom; therefore It has to have an engine room.
- Life support maintenance room: It's a star ship. It needs to have a way to provide oxygen for its crew, and that system would need maintenance.
- Bathrooms: The Tower likely contains more than one bathroom as the Superfriends have never been heard complaining about a lack of them, unlike the crew of the Waverider.
Ship systems[]
Scanners[]
- External scanners: The Superfriends used the Towers scanners to search for Kara, using a sample of her DNA.
Armament[]
- Shields: The Tower posses shields that can cloak its crew from Phantoms of the Phantom Zone but could only protect them from the Phantom Zone for 2 hours.
Internal systems[]
- Life support: As a star ship, the Tower posses a life support system that can filter the air.
Medical systems[]
- Medical scanners: The Tower's medical bay contains a system that can scan an individual for any ailments or any foreign elements or energies in their body.
- Blood test equipment: Alex Danvers preformed a blood test on Esme after her powers got out of hand at school.

Trivia[]
- There aren't speed dial buttons for Team Arrow (as they disbanded post-Crisis with Oliver's death) or the Legends (as contacting the Waverider is next-to impossible due to time travel).
- Superman and Black Lightning do not have speed dial buttons, with the signal watch being used to call Superman instead and the fact that Freeland is far away, making it highly inconvenient for Black Lightning, whose electricity powers cannot travel as fast as a speedster, Kryptonian or Martian.
Behind the Scenes[]
- The Tower is an homage to the Watchtower, an orbital satellite used by the Justice League to detect incoming threats. This is itself similar to the Monitor's satellite and the Council of Luthors' tower in orbit above Earth-99.[8]
- Similar to the series Smallville, the Watchtower is made into a building instead of a satellite orbiting around the Earth.
