- —Jordan Kent to Jonathan Kent[src]
Jordan Kent (born 2006[1]) is the son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, the twin brother of Jonathan Kent, the ex-boyfriend/best friend of Sarah Cortez, and a student of Smallville High School. Jordan is also the the nephew of Lucy Lane, the grandson of the late Jor-El, the late Lara Lor-Van, Sam Lane, and Ella, and the adoptive grandson of the late Jonathan Kent Sr. and the late Martha Kent.
Jordan was raised with his family in Metropolis, where he attended the high school and eventually developed social anxiety disorder. After Martha Kent died, Jordan and his family attended her funeral in Smallville, where Clark revealed he is Superman and Jordan developed kryptonian powers, being nicknamed Superboy by his brother[2][3][4][5][6][7][8] and stylized as the Smallville Samaritan.[7] After Clark was fired from the Daily Planet by Morgan Edge, Lois also ended up resigning, so they decided to move to the Kent farm and Jordan and his brother went to Smallville High School, where Jordan befriended Sarah Cushing and eventually joined the Smallville Crows. Eventually, he and Sarah began dating and Morgan Edge ended up revealing himself as Tal-Rho, Clark's half-brother who wanted to turn Earth into the new Krypton, using Jordan as a host to his father Zeta-Rho, but Jordan was saved by Lois and Tal was defeated by Superman and John Henry Irons.
At Lois' request, Natalie and John Irons began living on the Kent farm and Jordan ended up befriending her. After Superman's disappearance while hunting Ally Allston in the Inverse World, Jordan started acting as a vigilante and was trained by his grandfather, despite Lois' disapproval, although she supported him after Jordan saved them. Jordan and Sarah also ended up breaking up due to his secret identity. After Jonathan started being hunted by his Inverse World counterpart, Jon-El, Jordan ended up revealing his identity to Sarah, and they decided to continue as just friends. Jordan eventually defeated Jon-El and Superman returned and stopped Allston.

Biography[]
Early life[]
Jordan was born in 2006, with his twin brother Jonathan. Jordan was named after his biological grandfather, Jor-El.
Jordan had destructive outbursts and tantrums that were eventually diagnosed as social anxiety disorder, while Jonathan was a happy, athletic kid. As a child, Lois and Clark took Jordan and Jonathan to spend a summer in Smallville, where they met Sarah Cushing. There, Jordan was quiet writing in his notebook.
In Jordan's teenage years, he started therapy.[2] He took piano lessons, but dropped out when his anxiety got too strong for him to play.[9] At Metropolis High School, Jordan was bullied by several students, including Jimmy Cutter.[10]
Discovering Clark's secret[]
One night, after having dinner with Jonathan and Lois, Jordan went to his room to play video games, when Clark returned home, he went into Jordan's room and apologized for missing the day's therapy, Jordan said that his mother had already said that he was working, his father also said that Jordan was a great Superman in the game, with Jordan responding that Superman was boring and he was playing as Raiden, Clark said that if he needed to talk, he was there. When he was leaving, Jordan told him to turn up the music.
The next morning, when Jordan left his room, Jonathan questioned him about his outfit, with Jordan answering him sarcastically. Then they went to school. When Jordan's grandmother, Martha Kent died, he went to her funeral in Smallville, there, when Jordan was eating, Jonathan asked him if he had taken his pills from him, Jordan said he was not his mother, with Jonathan saying that someone had to look after him, when Jonathan saw Sarah and her family arriving, he warned Jordan and they went over to meet them with his parents, Sarah said she was sorry for his loss of him, when his parents left, they talked about the summer they met.
Then Sarah asked what had in the Kent farm barn, so he and Jonathan accompanied her there. While in the barn, Sarah said that almost anything there could kill them and that Smallville sucks. Sara then asks for Jordan's phone. Sara then picks up the phone and says that there will be a bonfire tomorrow and he can go. Jordan tries to impress Sarah by climbing on the scaffold without a ladder to reach the router, but he falls hard on the ground when the straps that hold the steel beams are broken. Jonathan then tries to save his brother from the steel beams by jumping in front of him, but Jordan manages to turn them over and save them both. Sara alerts Clark, who finds the boys, and quickly takes the steel beams off them.
Then, a doctor examines them and says that they only have mild concussions. Then they go to their rooms. Jonathan says he missed training for the week and Jordan asks him if he really cares about it now. Jonathan said that if he wants to stick to something, it must be Sarah Cushing. He takes Jordan's cell phone and mocks the message the other one sent to Sarah, calling him freaky and Jordan says they need to find out what happened in the barn.
The next morning, Jordan and Jonathan investigate the barn; he finds it strange that they are not dead. Their search reveals a spaceship, which scares Jon. Jordan takes a crystal from the ship and Jonathan asks what it is, with Jordan responding that whatever it is, it is not from Kansas.
When Lois and Clark return home, the twins confront their parents and Clark reveals his origins; to prove his alter ego, he lifts his car over his head while flying, surprising the twins, who feel they have heard lies all their lives and angrily leave. Later, they go to Sarah's party.
While they talk, his attraction to her becomes overwhelming and he kisses her passionately. Sara reveals that she has a boyfriend, just as he appears to fight. Jonathan steps in front.
But soon several boys are beaten up, until Jordan accidentally uses his heat vision and explodes the bonfire. At Kent farm, Jonathan asks what will happen to Jordan and Clark says he doesn't know. Jordan explains what it was like to use the powers and Jon then says that Jordan can control, which is like learning to drive, if the cars were indestructible and with giant lasers, infuriating Jordan, who leaves the salt and goes to his room. He then has a conversation with his father on the porch, who says that everything will be fine. The next morning, the twins talk to Sarah about what happened the night before. He gives them privacy for them to talk alone. After talking, she gets in the car and leaves.[2]
Moving to Smallville[]
Adapting to a new town[]
Later, Lois and Clark decided to move to Smallville with their children, to be closer as a family and allow Jordan to explore his powers. His parents also decided to keep Jordan out of school until he could control his powers. In the next day, Clark took Jordan to the Fortress of Solitude, so Jonathan went to the new school alone. In the Fortress, the hologram of Jor-El talked about the destruction of Krypton and its cities.
The tests at the Fortress indicated that his displays of superpowers were random occurrences and he would never be able to use them at will or be like his father. When they returned to Kent farm, Jordan was distraught that he was not apparently special and got into a shouting match with Jonathan, who was angry at his life being disrupted for Jordan’s benefit. The two started to argue until Lois appeased the situation and the two went to their rooms. Then they went to the Cushing family barbecue, where they met Sarah and Sophie Cushing. That night, the brothers made up and he thanked Jonathan for agreeing to move to Smallville and for always protecting him. The next morning, Clark allowed him to go to school.[3]
The next morning, they were trying to paint the house until Clark heard something and had to leave. Then they went to school, where he talked to Sarah until Sean and other members of the football team intimidated him, despite Jonathan's efforts to protect him. Then his father suddenly showed up at school, making the bullies go away and making the twins angry. He also heard Sarah and Sean break up and was interrupted by Timmy.
Jordan decided to participate in football training. Secretly using his powers, he took down all his opponents, impressing the trainer and making Jonathan angry. They also chatted with Sarah at Victoria May's, until Lana came out and yelled her out. When his parents learned that Jordan had joined the team, they forbade him to play. Later, Jonathan convinced Clark to let Jordan play for the team, telling him how his confidence and social skills had improved while playing on the team.[1]
As Jordan became the star of the team and popular with his colleagues, his mental health improved considerably, stopping him from having anxiety attacks. Jordan participated in his first game with the Smallville Crows and defeated all his opponents, being applauded by his family and friends. After the game was over, he and his brother went to a party at Corey Wellnitz's lake house, where they met Sarah. The next day, Sam Lane told the twins not to distract their father from duties as Superman. Later, Jordan and Jon followed Tag Harris when he ran off alone into the forest. They found him suffering immense pain due to the uncontrollable vibration. As Tag had been injured by the bonfire explosion, Jordan believed that he is the culprit.
Jon wanted to call Clark for help, but Jordan reminded him of Sam's warnings, and blaming himself for Tag's situation, he tried to help him. Tag threw Jordan away, knocking him unconscious, so Jon used the signaling device to call their father. Back at home, Jonathan assured Jordan that he was not responsible for Tag’s condition, which was proved true when Sam explained that government scientists had determined Tag’s powers came from being exposed to a nearby yellow phosphorescence in the mines. When Clark asked why the two of them didn't call for him as soon as they learned about Tag, the brothers revealed that Sam had told them not to bother Clark with their problems, to their parent's joint fury.[11]
Jordan is working on the farm with his family to prepare for the upcoming Smallville Harvest Festival. Later, he and Jon go to school, where Jon receives a call from his girlfriend Eliza and she breaks up with him. When they return home, Jordan tells his parents what had happened. Sarah asked Jordan to go on a date to Smallville’s Harvest Festival with her, which was Jordan’s first date. At the Festival, they talked and got closer, however the moment was ruined when Jon arrived with Timmy Ryan and another boy, and drunkenly made fun of them both. Disgusted with his behaviour due to her father’s alcoholism, Sarah stormed off. The next day she told Jordan she was not ready to date anyone at the moment, but asked that they stay friends, which he agreed to. As Jordan was walking home, he was ambushed by Tag Harris, demanding to know what had happened to him.[4]
Losing control[]
So Jordan used his signal device to summon Superman, who tried to stop Tag but failed. After the attack, Jordan returned home and began to experience painful migraines triggered by the development of his super hearing. At school, Jordan had the pains again; Jonathan wanted to tell his parents but Jordan asked him not to as he wanted to participate in the next Crows game in Metropolis.
The game was against Jonathan's old team in Metropolis, which was formed by boys used to bullying Jordan. During the game, Jordan was temporarily incapacitated by his migraine and failed to protect the Crows quarterback. Jonathan was sent to replace him and the brothers managed to rally the team and lead them to win the game. In the final play, Jordan was tackled and beaten by Jimmy Cutter and the other rival players, causing him to lose control of his heat vision; which Clark managed to block with his hand.
Back in the hotel room, Clark questioned Jordan about what had happened, prompting Jonathan to tell the truth about Jordan's migraines and he berated them for not telling them sooner. Clark had to leave when Lana called him and shortly afterwards his team members showed up and asked them to come out and celebrate.
Cutter and a few other Metropolis players followed them and began bullying Jordan, with Cutter trying to goad him into a fight. Though Jonathan tried to calm him down, Jordan was going to smack Cutter over the head with all his might, but Jonathan thrust his fist forward, making the bones in his hand break. Back at Kent Farm, they told their parents what had happened and Jordan apologized, but Jonathan refused to accept and his parents were disappointed that he used his powers like that.
The next day, Sarah told Jordan what happened when Tag kidnapped her, on the theory that he gave Tag the powers. Jordan told her he had no idea what Tag was talking about. After everything that happened, Jordan started to cry and told Lois that he wished he didn't have powers. Then he started having another migraine and fell to the ground having a seizure. So Clark arrived and took him to the Fortress of Solitude.[10]
Jor-El A.I. tells Clark that Jordan will feel pain until he learns to control his super hearing. Jordan started to hear everything around him, so he started using headphones to muffle the sounds. He managed to focus his hearing on Sarah, and he heard her talking to Jonathan. Believing his brother was flirting with Sarah, Jordan punched the wall angrily. When Jon returned home, Jordan confronted him; they argued and Jordan was unable to tolerate Jonathan's pain screaming at him, eventually passing out when Jon slapped the wall. Later, Jordan heard Clark being assaulted by the Stranger and told Jonathan, so they took a car and drove to the scene and managed to incapacitate the Stranger. Back at Kent Farm, Jordan apologized to Jon for everything that had happened. They reconciled and their parents decided to no longer keep secrets, promising to answer their questions. Jordan asked them to explain who the stranger was.[12]
Jordan then decided to quit the football team after what happened to Jonathan. Later, Jordan convinced Sarah to participate in the school's music audition, as he had to leave music as a child because of his anxiety. At the audition, Kyle didn't show up and Sarah was too nervous to perform alone, so Jordan offered to join her playing the piano, they both had an excellent performance.[9]
During final rehearsals, Jordan began to sneeze and cough up icy air. He called Clark, who took him home and his condition began to deteriorate. His parents deduced that Jordan had caught a Kryptonite disease transmitted by Clark when he was stricken with synthetic Kryptonite. Jordan wanted to go back and not let Sarah down, but he started having trouble breathing and Clark took him to the Fortress. The A.I. scanned him and determined that the kryptonite in his lungs had caused a respiratory infection and his lungs were filling with fluid. The infection had also triggered his frozen breath and the fluid was starting to solidify, which would kill him. The only treatment was to burn the kryptonite inside him. The procedure was extremely painful, but Jordan endured it with his father's help. Clark heard that Lois and Jon were in trouble so he went back to the farm with Jordan to help them. After their Kryptonian-possessed neighbors attacked them, the army and Sam Lane decided to stay in Smallville to protect them.[13]
Tal-Rho's attack[]
Jordan eventually learns from his father not only that "Morgan Edge" is a kryptonian named Tal-Rho but that he is also Clark's brother and therefore his uncle. The next day, Sarah told Jordan and Jon how she believed her father's alcoholism had gotten worse. Believing she deserved to know the truth, they told her that Kyle was possessed by a Kryptonian and took her to see him at an army facility where he was being held. Jordan tried to comfort her and encouraged her to keep hope. When multiple citizens from Smallville who were converted started to group together to kill Superman, Jordan and his brother hid while his father dealt with the army, though Clark didn't return home afterwards.[14]
After Tal-Rho's attack Jordan and Jon go talk to Sarah, who thanks the two for being straightforward with her when everyone else seemed to have secrets. Sarah then requests a second alone with Jordan an kisses him, saying that she would like to be more than friends now. When returning to their house, Tal-Rho dropped from the sky before the three to tell them that his father won't be returning, after telling him to leave Jordan attacks Rho with his heat vision but he was no match for the very experienced kryptonian as he got thrown to the ground by Rho's heat vision. His father eventually arrives in a weakened state to stop Rho from killing them and says that he will do anything he desires if it means saving his family, Tal-Rho agrees to this and takes Clark.[15]
Finding his father[]
His mom reassures Jordan and Jon that his dad will eventually fight through this problem and he will win. The next day Jordan spies on the military with his super hearing only to realize that they have no way of finding his dad, but Jonathan tells Jordan that he can find their dad using his super hearing like he did the time Clark was attacked by John Henry Irons. After a lot of effort, Jordan managed to locate his dad screaming his name close to Tal-Rho's Fortress in the Badlands, the two brothers later tell Sam Lane about Superman's location so that John Henry can stop him as he was possessed by Zod.
Thanks to some convincing, John Henry refuses to kill Clark and instead saves him from Zod's control, Superman later comes back home to hug Jordan and Jon as the family reunites.[16] After having his dad back, Jordan started to spend more time with Sarah, with the two eventually skipping school, though they then got arrested for trespassing on Atlas Pond, which was a private property. Jordan later manages to get out with a warning thanks to Lois bailing him out.[17]
Possessed by Zeta-Rho[]
Three weeks after Tal-Rho escaped from containment, Jordan spent more time with Sarah and later went to a party at the house of one of their friends along with his brother. When Tal-Rho, now turned into the Eradicator, and Leslie Larr started an attack on Metropolis, Jordan received a call from his grandfather but the two brothers ignored it, believing that it was nothing too important. At the party the boys eventually found out through a TV broadcast about the attack on Metropolis, worrying when his mother almost was killed by Leslie Larr until she was saved by John Henry Irons.
Later that same day Sam Lane went to the house where they were at in order to bring Jordan and Jon back to the farm so that they could be safe, Jordan asked to bring Sarah along but during the ride home they were attacked by the Eradicator. Jordan told Sarah he loves her and the Eradicator kidnapped Jordan. Jordan was later taken at an unknown location where Superman couldn't find him and was later possessed by Zeta-Rho's consciousness.[18]
In Jordan's body, Zeta ordered Tal-Rho to resurrect the Kryptonian Defense Council. He then went to a volcano in Japan and temporarily released control over Jordan, who yelled at Superman for help. When he arrived, Zeta took control and attacked him, but Superman refused to fight for fear of hurting Jordan. Zeta finally left when he heard Tal-Rho resurrect the Defense Council. Zeta led his followers to the Shuster Mines, where Tal-Rho would use large amounts of X-Kryptonite to convert the entire population of Smallville into Kryptonians, but Superman and John Henry Irons appeared and tried to stop them.
Irons knocked Zeta unconscious with a red solar flare and took him to the Kent Farm, where Lois used a Kryptonian device to enter his mind and try to wake Jordan. Zeta realized what she was doing and woke up, choking Jon and lifting him up in the air, but Lois was able to find Jordan trapped inside his mind and help free himself. Jordan destroyed Zeta's consciousness inside him, just in time to stop him from killing Jon. Later, at the Cushing house party, Jordan reassured Sarah that he loved her, she replied that she loved him too.
Jordan attended the "funeral" of his grandfather Jor-El's A.I. along with his family, when a ship crashed and Natalie Lane Irons, the daughter of John Irons, came out of it. She then confused Lois with her mother, surprising everyone.[19]
The Inverse World[]
Helping his father[]
A few months after Tal-Rho's attempted invasion, Jordan took Sarah on a date to where they had been arrested previously. He had her blindfolded while he secretly used his heat vision to light a bunch of candles he'd placed in the water. She was amazed at what Jordan did but then felt uncomfortable when he kissed her. She claimed she wasn't feeling well, but Jordan could tell something was up with her.[20]
After his dad began having visions, Jordan insisted he go with his dad to take Tal-Rho to Tal's fortress to back him up. While there, Jordan got to meet a hologram of his Kryptonian grandmother who approved of her half human grandson citing he reminds her of Clark's dad. While Lara ran some scans on Clark to help him figure out the cause of his visions, Tal-Rho attacked Clark revealing he still had his powers. Jordan got between them and fired a heat blast from his eyes before proceeding to fight his evil uncle. He managed to put up a good fight before getting knocked down. Tal was impressed and complimented how much stronger he'd gotten. Clark then stopped Tal from killing Jordan.
Later that night, Jordan went into his brother's room and told him about fighting Tal. Jonathan was impressed upon hearing this. Natalie entered the room and told Jordan that Sarah was outside wanting to talk to him. When he walked out on the front porch, he & Sarah talked. Sarah revealed that a girl she'd become friends with at camp ended up kissing her and she admitted to liking it. Jordan showed he was heartbroken to the point of tears.[21]
Training with his grandpa[]
Jordan eventually reconciled with Sarah and the two continued dating.[22] After trying to stop some shoplifters at a quickie mart and almost being caught by a camera, Jordan asked his grandpa Sam Lane to train him.[23] Jordan found out that his brother apparently developed powers after a sparring session they had during his training and was told by Jon to not tell their parents yet.[5]
While trying to help his brother with his new powers, Jordan found out that they weren't naturally develoepd and that he was using a X-Kryptonite drug that some other kids at their high school were using.[24] While he confronted him about it, Jordan still kept his secret until he was found with a stash of X-Kryptonite by a sniffer dog the police sent at their school, earning both of them a reprimand from their parents.[25]
He eventually found out that the stash Jon was caught with wasn't his but Candice's, and he heard how she was being threatened by a dealer named Mickey Jeroux to pay a debt. Later that night he missed a meeting he had with Sarah and Aubrey due to saving Jon and Candice's life from the dealer, who was using X-Kryptonite to attack them, being unable to meet with Sarah as he would have to explain the blood and bruises he got after his fight.[26]
Becoming a vigilante[]
Jordan started acting as a vigilante after his father went missing after hunting Ally Allston. Jordan saved Kyle Cushing from a fire, being seen by John Irons who warned Lois, who scolded him for risking his life, so they had an argument. Later, Jordan saved his mother and grandfather from the thugs making a distributing X-Kryptonite (using a hood to hide his identity).[27]
Assisting Superman[]
Family Tragedy[]
27 days after the defeat of Ally Allston, Jordan continued to train with his father at the fortress. He also started to spar with holographic version of his father's rogues. After training, Jordan traveled to Kuala Lumpur instead of going home like his father told him, he tried to stop a crane from falling but was unsuccessful as his heat vision just broke the crane in half, with Superman then showing up to prevent the situation from getting worse. He would later met with Sarah at a diner where he asked her to continue dating, but she told him that she only wanted him as a friend. On his and Jon's birthday, their parents made party which Clark had to briefly leave in order to fight Henry Miller as Superman.[28]
Jordan and Jonathan decided to go to a party in Metropolis organized by Jon's ex-girlfriend, Eliza. There he encountered Sarah, with whom he had a conversation where they decided to have fun at the party as friends. While playing some beer pong, Jordan and Sarah got into a fight with Travis Michaels, which prompted them to leave. Jordan would later freeze Travis' car and take a picture of it to show Jon, Sarah and Natalie. After returning home, Jordan and Jon would have their parents reveal that their mother had stage-three inflammatory breast cancer, leading the two boys to embrace Lois while Jordan could hear her heartbeat.[29]
Further Heroics[]
Natalie offered Jordan and Jon to give their mom a watch made of kinetic energy that belonged to her doppelgänger as a gift to get her through chemo. After Jonathan's truck was stolen, Jordan and Natalie agreed with him that Candice's father, Emmitt Pergande, was the one behind the crime. While his brother didn't want to get Candice into trouble by reporting the incident, Jordan and Natalie agreed to help him take matters into their own hands. Tracking the truck to a warehouse, Jordan and Natalie helped Jon recover the truck by taking down all the goons while his brother drove away from the warehouse.[30]
Jordan assisted his father on putting out a giant forest fire while also making sure people got out safely. He was later left to put the fire out on his own after his father heard that Lois was having trouble, although it was a false alarm. After an argument with his brother, Jordan went fishing with his grandpa. Later, Sam showed Jordan photos of the fire incident where his hair stood out, claiming that he needed to cut his hair, but Jordan refused and left Sam after he put into question his responsibility as a hero.
Upon returning home, Jordan found out that Jonathan was punched in the face by Candice's dad. Jordan went with his mom, who confronted Emmitt, and saw how he pulled a gun on her, following this, Lois almost fainted. After Jordan told his dad what Candice's father did, Clark went to confront him, which resulted in Emmitt leaving town and Candice temporarily staying at the Kent house. The next day, both Jordan and Sam apologized to each other, with Sam deciding to not cut Jordan's hair but instead give him a suit to wear on his next missions.[31]
Developing new powers[]
After Candice moved away from the Kent Farm,[32] Jordan continued to help people around the world without his father's supervision, which made Clark mad. During a training session at the Fortress, Jordan got mad at his father for throwing sucker-punch lasers at him, believing that he constantly adds a new lesson every time he completes one. When Onomatopoeia tricked Superman into a trap where a group of Intergang members shot him with kryptonite, Lois encouraged Jordan to go rescue his father. He suited up and defeated most Intergang members until Onomatopoeia attacked him, which made him vulnerable to one of the Kryptonite based attacks of the weapons. Superman used this time to recover and rescue Jordan, who was then revealed to be okay as he didn't seem to be as a affected by Green Kryptonite as his father.[33]
Jordan later took Jon to the Fortress where they tried to find out from Lara Lor-Van if there was Kryptonian science that could help cure their mom's cancer, only for Clark to catch them, which lead to an argument between Jon and his father. The two brothers later found their mother's will, with them later confronting their parents about it. After apologizing, Lois and Clark decided not to keep any more secrets from them.[34] He would later help stop a fire in Smallville, which led to his brother Jon, who worked as a firefighter, being blamed for recklessly heading into the flames after Jordan left a person who he rescued next to him. This event not only lead to an argument between the two brothers, but raised Kyle's suspicions as there was evidence of his freeze breath stopping the fire.[6]
Revealing himself[]
Jordan and Jon later went to hangout with Sarah and Candice respectively, during their meeting at a party, Jordan got increasingly jealous of Junior, which angered Sarah. After a heated conversation between him and Sarah, she and Junior got into a car crash while getting away from the party when the police arrived, but Superboy intervened, saving the two by pulling them away from the car. Despite Jordan being as fast as he could, Junior still saw him, and later told Kyle about the incident, which led to him arriving at the Kent Farm to confirm his suspicions, only for Clark to reveal his identity to him.[35] During his mom's bilateral mastectomy, Jordan had a panic attack at the same time he developed x-ray vision, being unable to control it at first until Jon calmed him down. When the power at the hospital went off, Superman went to stop the Mannheims as they were behind it.[36]
As Junior kept talking about the mysterious hero that saved him, Jordan actually started to like the attention so he put less effort in hiding his identity as the new superhero in Smallville, this led to his parents forbidding him from more heroic activities. When a tornado hit Smallville, Jordan tried to help his father stop it, despite Clark telling him to go home, Jordan suited up and helped Superman dissipate the tornado. Superboy then landed in front of the group of people he rescued, who went to thank Jordan while taking pictures of him in front of a disapproving Sam and Superman. Later that night, Jordan was confronted by his parents about his actions, with the world now knowing that he exists. After lashing out at his father with his powers, Clark angrily told him to go to his room.[7]
Making amends[]
33 days later, the day of the meteor shower on Main Street, Jordan and Jon were told by their parents that they were going to use their Uncle Tal's villa on Italy to go on a family trip so they can get away from their current problems and reconnect. Around the time the meteor shower was getting closer, Jordan, Jon and Natalie were introduced to their grandfather's new girlfriend, Gretchen, with the two brothers also learning that Natalie and John Henry might be moving to Metropolis. Later that day, the Kent family had diner at Vicky May's, where the twins told their parents about Natalie moving out and Sam Lane's new girlfriend. Jordan was confused by his father's idea to user their powers to take Lois and Jon to Italy instead of taking a flight, as they said he shouldn't use his powers, but his dad told him that what mattered was the reason why he was using his powers.
Following his dad's advice, Jordan apologized to Sarah for the way he's been treating her. Sarah accepted the apology and hoped that things would get better for him, but the two still agreed that they shouldn't be friends at the moment. The night of the meteor shower, Jordan and the rest of his family were witness to his father facing a monstrous creature created by Lex Luthor to kill Superman, with Jordan trying to go help before his dad told him no to. Seeing the monster take Superman into space, Jordan was unable to hear his father breathing anymore, fearing the worst and not aware that Superman was continuing the fight with that creature on the Moon.[37]
Personality[]
Jordan suffers from social anxiety disorder, and as a result, he has been shown to lash out when stressed as both a child and a teenager. He is best described as a loner, not socializing much with other kids of his own age and lacking interest in what others think of him. He also has a small sense of self-confidence that was further shaken when he had learned from Jor-El's AI that he wouldn't amount to being as special as his father. Yet, it has started to grow when he joined the football and started to become friends with his fellow teammates. Despite trying to remain closed off to others, he has an instant connection with his childhood crush, Sarah Cushing, and a strong bond with his twin brother, Jonathan Kent, seeing him be attacked by other kids at the bonfire is what caused Jordan to activate his heat vision for the first time.
Jordan seems to be closer to his mother, Lois Lane than he is to his father, Clark Kent as she has been more present in his life while Clark was saving the world as Superman, she was able to comfort him during an anxiety attack and Jordan felt particularly betrayed by her knowing about his father's secret identity and not telling him, Jordan has grown distant from his father because he was always traveling for "work" and this has caused resentment to build towards him. But this rift has possibly began to heal as Clark was able to comfort Jordan after the emergence of his powers and promising to be there for him.
Since acting as a vigilante, Jordan has begun to grow egotistical and arrogant in his abilities. He has begun to believe that he could handle anything, as seen when he screams at Jonathan during an argument that their training is nothing alike as he has powers, though this was partly said out of anger, it could also be seen when his grandfather attempts to convince him to get a haircut to hide his identity, where he immaturely states Sam, a general in the army, has no idea what sacrifice is like. This eventually comes to a head when he chooses to reveal his alter-ego to the world, and begins to revel in the popularity and fame it brings him, which leads to an argument culminating in him striking at his father with his powers.
Powers and abilities[]
Powers[]
- "You're stronger than you think you are."
- —Clark Kent to Jordan Kent[src]
- Human-Kryptonian Hybrid Physiology: Because of Jordan's human-kryptonian hybrid genetic structure under the effects of a yellow sun, he possesses the same potential powers as any kryptonian.[2] According to Zeta-Rho, Jordan's body is the perfect vessel because it possesses such untapped power.[19] When Zeta-Rho was in control of Jordan's body, he was able to activate Jordan's full potential and grant him complete Kryptonian powers when exposed to a yellow sun. Three months after he was freed from Eradication, Tal-Rho and Lois pointed out that Jordan's powers have matured greatly,[21] and his maternal grandfather started training him to sharpen his powers and make sure he had control. His grandfather Sam Lane later told Jordan's mother Lois that he is one of the most powerful beings on Earth.[27]. It has been stated by his father that after being shot with Kryptonite, that Jordan wasn't affected the same way and he could potentially surpass his father.
- Solar Energy Absorption: Jordan cellular structure allow him to absorb, store and metabolize the energy spectrum from a yellow sun to fuel his abilities, although his cells can't properly store solar energy. According to Jor-El's AI, Jordan's body can only take in smaller amounts of solar energy than his father's. While it took Clark only 4 years to gain his superpowers, it took Jordan 14 years to display powers. However, after having Zeta-Rho in control, his powers rose to their full potential.
- Accelerated Healing Factor: Jordan can heal faster than most humans. He quickly recovered from getting attacked by Tag and getting dog-piled by a rival football team.
- Flight: Jordan has the ability to fly, which he awakened when he needed to save Kyle Cushing's life from a fire. While originally, he couldn't well, he improved during a fight with Jonathan-El. His father has since begun helping him to perfect this power, still having issues with landing, but he is starting to get the hang of it.[38] Eventually, Jordan's flying skills become advanced enough to quickly cross entire continents, and even exit Earth's atmosphere.
- Superhuman durability: Jordan's body is considerably less vulnerable than that of a normal human; he only suffered a mild concussion from badly falling 30 feet and having multiple large metal beams falling directly onto him. When Jordan initially exhibited his powers, his durability was fairly inconsistent; as he had been knocked down, beaten up and bled from punches and kicks from normal humans, and was vulnerable to Tag’s attack (due to the latter's amplified strength and speed), yet he was able to punch through his bedroom wall without receiving a scratch, and later survived a car crash. Since season 2 Jordan has shown significant increases in all of his powers, including his durability; having been able to endure multiple blows from Bizarro Jonathan, a Krypton with similar levels of superhuman strength, and only receive minor wounds. It appears as though Jordan’s durability is still not at the same level as his father, Clark's. While it is currently unknown if Jordan is bullet proof yet like his father is, Jordan was able to get smashed into a truck and driven through several walls while fighting Lana-Rho and barely felt anything. While training in the fortress, Jordan got hit by lasers and hasn't feel any pain.
- Space survivability: Jordan’s body is able to survive going into the vacuum of outer space. As he flew into space to successfully rescue his paternal uncle and land back on Earth.
- Superhuman speed: Jordan can move faster than the human eye can see, as demonstrated when he saved Jon and Candice from a drug dealer. This also allows everything in the environment turn to slow-motion as he dodged a heat vision strike from another X-K user before sneaking behind him. He later outran a cave-in, bringing Jonathan and Natalie along with him. He later sped his father out of the way from Lana-Rho hitting him, and turned her freeze vision against Jonathan-El before it could reach him; he also caught the kinetic hammer when Natalie threw it at Lana.[39]
- Accelerated Perception: Jordan awakened this power when Heat vision was flying at him when he removed his arms protecting his face time seemed to slow down around him allowing him to move behind the XK junkie and beat him.[27]
- Longevity: Due to being born half-Kryptonian, Jordan can age slower and live longer than regular humans, remaining at his prime as long as he's under the exposure of the “yellow” sun and enable him to potentially live almost indefinitely without showing signs of aging.
- Superhuman strength: While Jordan's strength is not yet as tremendous as his father, Clark Kent's; due to his limited solar energy capacity, his strength is still elevated by human standards. He is a natural football player, as he was seen stopping other members of the team with ease.[1] During training with his father, he was able to embed his fist in a wooden log. He also accidentally snapped the bones in Jonathan's wrist when he attempted to punch Jimmy Cutter. He also punched through his bedroom wall in anger towards his brother bonding with Sarah. He can also as pick up Jonathan with one arm.[19] Later, his strength increased enough to actually harm his uncle with his hits, which were also accompanied by shock waves.[21] Under his grandfather's training, which included punching feed bags, he became strong enough to punch a bag off its suspension hook and uppercut people into the air.[27] During his fight with Jonathan-El, he catapulted him high into the air with a knee strike.[40] He later knocked out Lana-Rho with the kinetic hammer.[39]
- Superhuman breath: Jordan's first experience with kryptonite left him sick and he rapidly cooled the air when he sneezed, resulting in the formation of ice. After the kryptonite was burned out of his system, he gained some control over his freezing breath.[13] His grandfather trained him by having him freeze water being tossed from a bucket. He later used his freeze breath to freeze an entire car.[27]
- Superhuman hearing: Jordan's auditory senses are highly developed. His hearing is very sensitive, as common sounds are much more harmful to him, causing him to have migraines. He heard Jonathan's bones snap when he accidentally broke his wrist. His grandfather, Jor-El's hologram said his mechanosensations had become significantly enhanced and his auditory perception caused an allodynic response; until he can control what he heard, every sound would be accompanied by pain, and would require practice to focus. He was able to briefly concentrate on just the voices of Sarah and his brother, but Jordan lost focus, when he heard them bonding. He later replicated this to locate his father, Clark, who was several miles away, and later when he attempted to find him again, he was able to hear either Australia or New Zealand until he heard his father yelling from the Badlands. He overheard a conversation between his father and Lana Lang Cushing, much to Sarah's confusion. His grandfather stated that his super hearing makes him better than a satellite.[27]
- Heat vision: Jordan can emit red energy beams of intense heat from his eyes. Jordan first used this power when under stress over being bullied and his brother being beaten up by Sarah's then-boyfriend for a mistake.[2] He has since gained some control over this power, as seen when he attacked his paternal uncle. He was able to reuse it again with ease in his second clash with his uncle. His grandfather trained his power by having him shoot at tin cans.[27] Jordan’s heat vision was then accurate enough to light several candles all without melting them. He was able to cut through solid rock with ease following his training, and he is accurate enough to intercept Jonathan-El's freeze vision with his own heat vision.[39]
- X-Ray vision: After his mother's surgery caused Jordan a panic attack, it triggered him to develop x-ray vision and can see through walls in the hospital; including skeletons of other individuals. Overtime his power allowed him to view infrared heat signatures that supported him to find his grandfather buried deeply underground, as well as seeing the armed men who guarded cargo containers before he stealthily attacks them.
Abilities[]
- Expert Hand-to-Hand combatant: Jordan began training in boxing with his maternal grandfather, Sam Lane to sharpen his powers.[5] While he already demonstrated moderate skill against his paternal uncle, his training allowed him to fare better against a drug dealer enhanced by X-Kryptonite and he even subdued him. He defeated more XK junkies when he rescued his mother and grandfather,[27] and he was later able to obtain the upper hand against Jonathan-El.[40] Although he was (initially) overwhelmed by Lana-Rho, he fared better against her in their rematch; especially considering how he fought both Lana-Rho and Jonathan-El simultaneously despite being overpowered and when Natalie joined him, receiving commendation from his grandfather.[39] At his family's fortress, he trained with a holographic simulation of Atomic Skull.[28] He continued to make progress, having defeated simulations of an unnamed female Kryptonian martial artist, Mechano-Man, Vartox, and Equus, and even defeated simulations of Atomic Skull and Bizarro simultaneously. He later rescued his father by subduing soldiers armed with Kryptonite weapons, although he was temporarily incapacitated.[33] He demonstrated refined martial arts skills when he put Otis Grisham in a wristlock.[8]
- Musician: Jordan is a trained pianist, performing Amos Lee's "Little Light" for Sarah's audition and later playing the piano at home. He also taught Sarah a little on how to play the piano before he experienced kryptonite sickness.
Weaknesses[]
- Kryptonite: Due to being half-Kryptonian, even while empowered, Jordan is vulnerable to the exposure of Kryptonite, a radioactive mineral from the planet Krypton. Depending on the nature of the said Kryptonite, it will cause a different adverse effect on him. As he grew in power, he demonstrated some resistance to Kryptonite weaponry, although only for a short time before passing out.
- Green Kryptonite: Green Kryptonite not only physically hurts Jordan, but also it weakens his physical attributes; making his resilience equivalent to that; of a normal human, but if he is exposed to enough Green Kryptonite for too long, it will eventually kill him. But despite being weaker than his father, he has a considerably higher resilience to Green Kryptonite. It is speculated to be because of his Human-half deluding the effects on his Kryptonian-half.
- Noise Sensitivity: Presumably due to enhanced hearing, loud noises such as a locker door closing or a bell ringing, can leave Jordan feeling disoriented, giving him headache-like symptoms. Since learning to control his powers he has had less and less headaches.[10]However, Jordan has gotten more control of his powers after being host to Zeta-Rho.
- Red Sun Energy: Jordan is powerless when exposed to the energy of a red sun.
Former weaknesses[]
- Power Instability/Mixed DNA: Due to being half-human; Jordan doesn't have constant access to his Kryptonian powers. According to Jor-El's A.I.; Jordan may have spontaneous instances of power like heat vision; but he will not be able to manifest anything beyond enhanced physical condition just above that; of normal humans, as his cells cannot properly store solar energy. But it is possible that; his age is associated; with this, as he has not yet to fully mature.[3] Likewise, Jordan was unable to properly control his powers; particularly; when upset. In addition, the first time Jordan's heat vision manifested, it also appeared to be somewhat painful; with large red rings around his eyes afterward, presumably; due to the intense heat. After Zeta-Rho took over Jordan's body and he regained control of it, Jordan gained better control of his powers; which have begun to steadily grow.
Equipment[]
- ELT: After gaining Kryptonian powers, Jordan was given a signal device known as an ELT by his parents in case of emergencies.[3]
Former equipment[]
- "Had my team put together something that should keep that hair of yours in check."
"This is awesome!"
"That's, uh, not even the best part. Uh... these belonged to my dad. He flew a P-38 Lightning over Berlin in the Second World War. Even earned a Flying Cross. I want you to have them." - —Sam Lane and Jordan[src]
- Superboy Suit: Jordan received a black protective suit from his grandfather, Sam Lane, to hide his identity from his enemies when he goes out fighting crime. The suit is accompanied by a pair of pilot goggles which belonged to Sam Lane's father during World War II.[31] Jordan would give this suit to Jon after he got his powers and he decided to step away from heroics for a while.[41]
- Headphones: While Jordan was learning to control his superhuman hearing, he had to wear his headphones to stop him from hearing everything.[12]

Trivia[]
- Jordan suffers from a social anxiety disorder, which first manifested as tantrums and night terrors as a child. He takes benzodiazepines as medication and is in therapy. However, it has been implied that these outbursts have been his superior senses sporadically appearing. After training with his powers, dating Sarah and bonding more with his family, he seems to have an easier time handling his anxiety.
- Jordan is a fan of "Flake" by Fidlar.[2]
- Jordan's name is derived from "Jor-El", the name of his biological paternal grandfather. Like his brother, Jonathan Kent was named after their adoptive grandfather, Jonathan Kent Sr..[3]
- Jordan was born before Jonathan.[42]
Behind the scenes[]
- Jordan was the alias assumed by Clark after quitting his superheroics in the famous story arc Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?
- Jordan's protective suit given by Sam Lane is based on the first supersuit Superman wore in the Superman: American Alien comics and in the Superman: Man of Tomorrow movie.[43]
