- "I was sent here to protect my cousin. Turns out, he didn't need my protection. But there's a whole planet full of people who do. Earth doesn't have just one hero anymore. Now it has me. Now it has... Supergirl."
- —Kara Zor-El[src]
Earth was the third planet orbiting the solar system's yellow sun. It served primarily as the home planet of humans, but eventually became home to countless aliens, including a number of heroes such as Superman, Supergirl, Martian Manhunter, and Dreamer.
The planet was sometimes referred to as Earth-38 in reference to its location in the multiverse. This name was often also used to refer to the universe this planet was located in.
In 2019, the entire planet was vaporised by a wave of antimatter, presumably killing all of the residents that were not relocated via transmatter portal to Earth (Earth-1).[1]
History[]
At some point, Kal-El and Kara Zor-El were both sent to Earth due to Krypton's impending destruction.[2]
It was home to vigilantes like Superman, Supergirl, Martian Manhunter and Guardian. Aliens were given all human rights as citizens with the Alien Amnesty Act by the former U.S. President Olivia Marsdin, who is also an alien.[3]
The Earth was also the target of several alien invasions, such as the Kryptonian army invasion using the Myriad,[4] the Daxamite invasion,[5] and the invasion of the Worldkillers, but all of them were defeated by the heroes of the Earth, including Superman, Supergirl, and many others.[6]
Anti-Monitor Crisis[]
Following the rest of the Solar System, the planet was later destroyed when the antimatter wave destroyed all of Earth-38 during the Anti-Monitor Crisis. However, three billion people evacuated through the transmatter portal to Earth-1, before the quantum tower fell.[1]
Erased future[]
In a future timeline, a mass extinction caused by the Blight led to the loss of much of Earth's history and population;[7] Mon-El came to live on this future time after going through a time wormhole to form the Legion.[7] By then, 25th-century L-Corp develops a cure for lead poisoning, allowing him to survive in the atmosphere of Earth;[7] he returned to the 21st century to defeat Blight's predecessor. The timeline was likely subsequently erased afterwards.[8]
