- [Instructor] With daily advancements in all aspects of technology, it's good practice to ask why we continue to perform testing in what seems like an antiquated manner. As I've noted, many see manual testing as an old process and unnecessary. The speed, number of defects, cost savings, and agility of automation deliver a huge value to a testing program. It also aligns well with the agile processes for development. However, automation has its flaws. For starters, the whole system disconnects the tester from the actual software. It's designed to simply output results without developing an expertise in the product. Moreover, it has a much longer prep time, and requires costly software tools. Most important, it's missing the most critical element, human interaction. The fact is most products are designed for people, which means people need to be looking at it.
